- Diffusion Tensor Imaging Systems with a moving MRI scanner require the entire operating room to be cleared of instruments and equipment each time a scan is done. IBSC systems are based on moving the patient. This allows a patient to benefit from intermittent intraoperative imaging in a high field 1.5T or 3T scanner for diffusion tensor imaging (DTI). It also allows for real time surgery in a mid field (0.6 Tesla) or low field (0.3 Tesla imager) where mapped DTI locations identified at high field can be deformed in real time at low field.
- Multiple scanners for backup When MRI is critical to completion of an operation, the two scanner solution also helps assure that a patient's surgery will not be halted due to equipment failure.
